Join LARC’s Board of Advisors!
Are you interested in getting involved with a cool, young organization making an impact in LA? Want to support the future of local journalism? Join Los Angeles Reporting Collective’s Advisory Board!
We have two arms of our advisory board we’re looking to expand, which you can learn about below. If you’re interested in learning more, email info@lareportingcollective.org with a few sentences about your background and why you’d like to get involved with LARC.
1. LARC’s Working Board
Duties: Volunteer 5 hours a month toward a special project you can help lead. The goal is to put our board members' expertise to work by focusing directly on something they’re excited to help run. Current board member focuses include: running LARC’s monthly happy hours; creating fellowship curriculum; planning our annual staff and board retreat.
Who’s a good fit: Anyone with 5+ years work experience* who’s interested in shaping LARC’s programs and community (*you do not have to work in journalism or be a journalist in order to be on LARC’s board).
Expectations: Attend a short monthly Zoom meeting (attendance required at least 8 out of the 12 meetings) plus our very fun annual, in-person retreat!
2. LARC’s Leadership Council
Duties: Help LARC reach its annual fundraising goals, expand connections to potential funders and partners and occasionally represent LARC at relevant functions.
Who’s a good fit: People with experience in nonprofit growth, fundraising and financial/organizational development.
Expectations: Attend four meetings a year and provide occasional ad-hoc support between meetings.
